Knowledge and Abilities
Multiple years of experience in programming and set-up of Haas Mills: VF-3SS, VF-3, VF-5, VF-6, VF-9 and a Vertical Manual Mill
Multiple years of experience in programming and set-up of Haas Lathes: SL-30 and SL-40 Long Bed
Create accurate programs using SolidWorks, CAD and CAMWorks; but also must be able to manually program from print to finish part at the machine without software
Knowledge in use of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments including but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gauges, indicators and scales.
Knowledge of tooling, tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and other accessories used on various machines.
Strong understanding and ability to interpret drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and set up requirements.
Decide which cutting tools and speeds are appropriate, considering the design specifications, materials and range of tools that could be used.
Detect equipment malfunctions, on or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine within capabilities, controls or control media as required to ensure quality of production. Reports all machine malfunctions to Department Supervisor and Production Manager.
Ensure jobs are completed timely and efficiently to meet production schedule priorities.
Concurrently operate and maintain multiple machines in the manner that ensures their longevity while adhering to guidelines that promote personal safety and safety of others while keeping work area clean, organized and tidy.
Responsible for supporting operators in the training of loading parts, proving programs, operating controls, setting offsets, simple edits, deburring and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements.
Maintain security of drawings, tools, fixtures, technical manuals, raw materials and machined parts.
Assist estimators with technical information for quoting
Must be willing to work flexible shifts and changing work schedule based on production.
Must be able to adapt to a changing work environment, competing demands, delays or unexpected events.
Must be able to follow directions as directed by the Department Supervisor and Production Manager.
Must be able to adhere to the Quality Management System, Company Policies, Safety and Environmental Regulations.
Follow established safety procedures and techniques. This is a safety sensitive position.
Frequent exposure to moving equipment, machines and shop tools and other safety-sensitive hazards / risks.
Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
Must always be alert and able to safely perform the essential duties of the job without risking harm to oneself or others.
Working environment is in an industrial setting that is non-climate controlled and is often times hot / humid.
Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which include walking, climbing, standing, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, heavy lifting, or similar actives for extended periods of time
Employer requires candidate to pass a drug test and physical.
