We are currently recruiting for a Health Insurance/Accounting Coordinator.

Position Summary:

Expert with insurance industry standard concepts, practices, and procedures. Integral to ASNC’s revenue cycle management. Responsible for the timely processing of commercial insurance claims and payments. Act as the liaison between ASNC and its authorizing payers regarding the status and eligibility for payment of all primary and secondary insurance claims. Primary contact for family and interdepartmental communications regarding claims and ongoing eligibility. Act as specialist in the use and support of the ABA practice management system.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Claims Processing

  • Act as the authority for managing all aspects of the practice management system, including weekly billing, payment posting, and balance billing.
  • Verify payments match contractual agreements and resolve discrepancies with insurance carriers.
  • Responsible for immediate follow up of denied claims.
  • Monitor outstanding account balances to minimize bad debt exposure, maintain aging at an acceptable level. Contact families to collect payments on past due accounts, following all state and federal collection regulations.
  • Prepare standard commercial insurance revenue journal entries monthly, and format for import to the accounting system.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with counterparts at authorizing payers and within the ABA community, to establish a network of industry resources.

Clinical Administration Support

  • Set up new clients and staff in the practice management system.
  • Enter all service authorizations in the practice management database
  • Coordinate with clinical professionals for the timely submission of commercial health insurance and Medicaid ABA service reauthorizations.
  • Submit, retrieve and track Medicaid ABA authorizations via the MCO sites, in accordance with the ISP.
  • Responsible for the setup of Private Pay clinical contracts in the practice management database.
  • Create bimonthly payroll reports from the practice management system. Compile and verify the accuracy of clinical payroll adjustment reports.
  • Responsible for verifying out of pocket obligations each benefit year and disseminating this information to each family.
  • Perform monthly eligibility checks in NC Tracks.
  • Support Clinical department management

Qualifications

Ability to perform a variety of complicated tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Able to multitask and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Ability to work with minimal supervision, taking initiative in resolving issues to a complete and final resolution.

Ability to reliably meet internal and external deadlines.

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Ability to handle difficult conversations with diplomacy.

Expert level user of computers and Microsoft Office Suite.

Occasional travel to various regional locations may be required.

Work flow requires occasional to frequent work weeks in excess of 40 hours.

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited, four-year college or university; and 10 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift up to 10 pounds, stand, walk, sit, use hands or fingers, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
